This feeling never leaves us. The drive to Anib Lodge takes care of this. In the middle of a private
Located in a nature reserve, we see everything from Africa’s largest antelope, the eland, to…
deer-sized Steenbuk almost everything Namibia has to offer. And that on the red dunes of the
Kalahari. Excursions and hikes after dinner are offered on site.
Tag L3 Sossusvlei Taleni Lodge, DBB 315km
The Sossusvlei Taleni Lodge is located directly at the entrance to the Namib Naukluft Park. On the way there – today the journey runs from east to west – we climb down into the Namib plain, with an approximate altitude difference of around 1000m. The next morning we drive from the lodge directly into the dune sea of the Namib to admire the highest shifting dunes in the world in Sossusvlei.
Tag L4 Namib Desert Lodge, DBB 190km
Go to Sossusvlei. These dunes are 300m and higher. Big Daddy even 350m from top to toe. Why
do we just always have to give everything a name? Overnight at the Namib Desert Lodge.
Tag L5 Day to relax, Dune Star Outdoor Camp, DBB 30km
Let’s stay at the Namib Desert Lodge. So to speak, a day of rest, letting your soul unwind. If you want, you can go hiking, lie by the pool or relax in some other way. In the afternoon we go with our luggage with the lodge’s own car to the Dune Star outdoor camp. It will be up here on the dunes lonely, quiet and if you want, you can “introspect” here in complete peace of mind. The beds have wheels and since there are no mosquitos, you are invited you to go outside for an overwhelming starry sky sleep.
Tag L6 Swakopmund Delight Hotel, BB, 2N 300km
Change of scene. Through the desert to the coast on a rough sandy road, we get to Swakopmund. On the guided tour with a tour guide there is the option (i.e. optional) to fly around this. The single-engine plane takes about 2 hours from the lodge via Sossusvlei, the coast, and further north to Swakop, as we say. An experience that we recommend. It’s not just that you save yourself a long, bumpy ride – to explore the dunes from above, the meeting of dunes and sea and traces of a bygone era, namely that of the diamond prospectors – it’s worth the effort. Meanwhile, your tour guide will follow in the car and you will meet in the evening at the hotel, for example the Swakop Delight. The airline knows the way, everything is within walking distance. Restaurants for every taste in Swakopmund offer seasonal delicacies; dinners here have to be paid for on site by every guest.
Tag L7 Swakop Delight BB 2 nights
Let’s stay in Swakopmund.

Seals and pelicans come on board, if you’re lucky, you’ll also see leatherback turtles and dolphins and whales. Wow, don’t miss this !
– Alternatively, a desert tour with an expert guide is possible. In the foreground the shifting dunes, drive through them in the 4×4 to look for the Tok Tokki beetle, the desert cameleon or a sidewinder snake
– Sightseeing day trips or short sightseeing flights from Swakopmund possible
– Fishing trips
Tag L8 Damaraland Twyfelfontein Camp Kipwe, DBB, 2N 320km
On the drive to Kipwe Lodge in Damaraland we cross the desert again. Past the Brandberg, the highest peak in Namibia, we reach the lodge in the early afternoon. Here is an ambience of a special kind: the builder has managed to integrate the lodge into the landscape so that only the expert eye notices it from the street. Enjoy it. Afternoon at the pool or at the bar. On a guided tour we visit the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes, geological features, and the approximately 7,000 year old Bushman drawings.
Tag L9 Camp Kipwe Lodge, DBB
Let’s explore the beautiful Damaraland in search of the world-famous desert elephants, which live here in the riverbeds from the rich marginal vegetation.
Tag L10 Hobatere Lodge in front of the entrance to Etosha National Park, DBB 285km
The route is the goal. Stupid saying, but so true. We drive on the way to Hobatere Lodge through the breathtaking landscapes of Damaraland. Today’s highlight in the truest sense of the word, is the Grootbergpass, at the summit almost 1600m. From Kamanjab we continue towards Etosha National Park. Overnight at Hobatere Lodge. This 14km to the lodge isn’t bad either; here too we can encounter lions and elephants.
Tag L11 Etosha Safari Lodge, south of Etosha Nationalpark, DBB 230km
It’s going to be a long day. Depending on the wildlife, the desire to take photos or just being amazed, it takes time until late afternoon when we arrive at the Etosha Safari Lodge. Etosha Park is already
the purest animal paradise. Enjoy it with us – again and again!
Tag L12 Etosha Nationalpark, Onguma Safari Lodge, DBB 190km

Tag L13 Okonjima DBB incl. afternoon leopard activity, DBB 360km
The highlight of this trip. Leopard tracking on Okonjima. We arrive early afternoon for coffee and cake. In the afternoon, under very knowledgeable guidance, you can go photo stalking in the lodge’s own vehicles (incl.). The leopards are radio-controlled and there is a receiver in the car. If someone assumes, well, then it’ll happen quickly, they’ll be taught differently. It takes time……! And it’s always exciting. Okonjima – home of the africat.
Tag L14 Windhoek (International airport) 266km
If you want to see cheetahs, hyenas or even African wild dogs, you can book this on site the following morning before departure. At lunchtime it’s time to set off on the last trip of this safari. The plane is already waiting and we drive towards the airport. “Goodbye” until the next Namibia vacation !

Hitting the tarred road again for a short time you will come across Seeheim Hotel. Don’t hesitate to have a cup of coffee here or take one “to go”. For further indulging enthusiasts Aus Hotel be an insider tip not only offering black forest cake. Just some more km and you will reach behind the rocky dunes.
Day 6 Undertake a day trip to the southernmost harbour of Namibia Lüderitzbucht. Only 20km
From Klein Aus Vista you find the well known desert horses. The view point is about 3km from the tarred road. Because of lack of time in the morning it’s a good idea to visit the horses on your way back. Don’t just drive past… Kolmanskuppe Ghost town tours start at 9h3o every day (please first check in at reception). Interesting tourist tours to find out about the INs and OUTs those days in “Diamond times”. The remains of this ghost city are explained on site. Day 9 Sossusvlei Quiver Tree Camp DBB 280km
This is not just a rush through the desert but “today is the day” to dive into. After 3h drive you will reach the gateway into the famous Sossusvlei. Another 60km on unexpected tarred road leads you to the 2×4 parking spot and only the experienced drivers will do the remaining 5km through deep sand. If you are not trained please make use of the shuttle services offered to take you into the area of the dead vlei; otherwise be aware you will learn the humble pie lesson that others have to tow you out. Climb the wandering dunes, one step up, two down. Visit Sesriem Canyon on your way out.
Day 10 Donkerhuk West DBB incl. afternoon drive 270km
Take your time to visit the Kuiseb Canyon, Ghaub Canyon and several View Points in the desert. The next 270km through rough and wilderness area leads you to the tented Camp of Donkerhuk, meaning the dark corner, embedded into a mountainous hidden treasure of “Barbarossa” lying for his rest. Chris will show you soon what its all about. Enjoy the quietness of this camp. Farm drive either afternoon or morning drive is booked for you as an inclusive.
Day 11 Pension BB Swakopmund 3N 149km
After some days in the desert, the living coast will be your heading focus westwards… Swakopmund resembles a german city; at least no doubt about its history where you will be able to pay visits on your own in walkable distances to Kristal Museum, German Museum, old and new restored buildings, the Hotel and Entertainment Centre being transformed from the railway station into a 4star hotel, further your walking along the Mole and the Jetty to find yourself astonished again and again about a wonderful sunset at the Atlantic ocean being the last glimpse of the memories lying behind.

Day H1 ANIB LODGE Mariental incl. half board, incl. a sundowner drive, 2N 290km
You usually arrive at Windhoek International Airport Hosea Kutako in the morning with Lufthansa’s Eurowings holiday airline from Frankfurt. The Windhoek International Airport is named after the name of the Hereroleader Mr. Kutako.
All our tours are for either the self-driving option or you decide to be accompanied by a professional guide. Welcomed by one of our team we are driving to Windhoek; from there we/you can start straight away.
The Anib Lodge in the central south of Namibia is our destination: located east of Mariental, it used to be a pure sheep farm. Today, after 20 years of careful tourism, it offers a diversity of fauna and flora. Stockpiling of game is controlled so that the flora can recover. Depending on your wishes before you leave Windhoek, whether you want to buy your personal necessities such as drinks and snacks or take a tour of the city, you can already take part in the photo safari on the farm today with this variety of animals – from elands to Steenbuk. If we are late arriving and the game drive vehicles will have departed already, you will participate tomorrow. Its your holiday and we don’t hurry !
Day H3 RSA MATA MATA Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park 300km
We stay in the Kalahari and drive from Stampriet to Gochas and Tweerivier, making a short detour to the South Africa/Botswana border region. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is waiting for us, located just across the border. Overnight stay in National Park accommodation. Meals (you have to pay extra for breakfast and dinner in the on-site restaurant).
Day H4 RSA TWEE RIVER Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park 115km
We spend the day in the park. There are no large game animals such as elephants and rhinos here, but lions, leopards, cheetahs as well as all naturally occurring antelope species and zebras. Overnight stay in National Park accommodation. Meals (you have to pay extra for breakfast and dinner in the on-site restaurant).
Day H5 Keetmanshoop, Birds Nest Namibia, B&B 290km
We return to Namibia via Rietfontein. On the way to Keetmanshoop we experience the red dunes of the Kalahari. It feels like about 60 dunes are crossed; A geological peculiarity awaits you at the so-called “Playground of Giants”, the Quiver Tree Forest is also our destination: a huge granite area that is falling apart due to erosion. No, its not a tree, actually only grows sporadically on mountain slopes, stands here on an area of about one km².
Day H6 Canyon Lodge, Fish River Canyon DBB, incl. drive to the Canyon, 2N 160km
We are on the way to the second largest canyon in the world, the Fish River Canyon. Also a geological attraction with a length of around 650km. With a good overview from the lookout/viewpoint, it also offers a short hike along the edge of the canyon. Our destination today is the Canyon Lodge with comfortable and original accommodations integrated into the rock. Experience some time alongside the Canyon the following day.
Day H8 Hotel Kairos Cottage, Lüderitz, B&B 420km
The small German port town on the southern coast of Namibia was named after Adolf Lüderitz, a merchant from Bremen; he was not the founder of Lüderitzbucht, but his excursions to explore the country of Namibia started here. He was sent out by the German Colonial Association, he was given order to investigate whether southwest Africa was suitable for settlement. Overnight stay at Hotel Kairos Cottage (subject to availability). You have to pay for dinner yourself in the on-site restaurant.
Day H9 Klein Aus Vistas, DBB, including afternoon drive 130km
Located about 20km east of Lüderitzbucht, we find the ghost town of Kolmannskoppe. The tour begins at 9:00. Very interesting and also instructive to see what the human race will do to get rich quickly. Our destination today is Klein Aus Vistas, west of Aus. If there are still wild horses, then only very few; yesterday and today there is still the possibility of seeing them in their secluded domicile.
Day H10 Sossusvlei Taleni Lodge, DBB 380km
We continue north via Helmeringhausen and Betta to Sesriem to Sossusvlei Taleni Lodge. You will like the ambience. It adapts 100% to the desert landscape presented to us. Breakfast buffet and lunch in the open air “under the skies”. Of course, it’s a unique experience to dine here, especially in the evening.
Day H11 Solitair, Ababis guest farm, DBB 200km
From here to Sossusvlei with its unique (red) dune landscape we only drive an hour on a tarred road. We only understand the uniqueness when we are there. And here we understand how small and insignificant the individual human being is in this approximately 250,000,000 year old landscape. If this sand, which doesn’t even come from here, if these dunes could tell a story… how amazed we would be!
Day H12 Swakopmund Delight Hotel, BB, 2N 300km
Only for the guided tour guests and if possible this would be another unique feature that we recommend (optional): How about a flight over Sossusvlei? The Piper (aircraft) takes just max 2 hours from Solitär via Sossusvlei to Swakopmund. In the meantime, the car will be brought to Swakop and you will meet your tour leader/guide at the accommodation. The airline will show you the way. Everything is within walking distance.
For self-drivers, this section of the route is often only completed in the afternoon, as there are unique photo landscapes here and there. Don’t forget to order a packed lunch from the lodge. In addition to the unique dune landscape, diamond fields and old trekking trails, you usually also see seals and flamingos. Swakopmund Dinner here in a restaurant of your choice (to be paid on site).
Day H13 We spend the day at Swakopmund. Optional offers:
