Hunting Reports

Katrin & Manu Keller, November 2023

Our adventure with jagen-in-freier-wildbahn.com:
We traveled to Namibia with Kienitz Tours in November 2023. Since I’m passionate about hunting, we met Iris and Peter at their farm in the hunting area during our tour to hunt with Peter.

The accommodation is beautifully situated, and we had a magnificent view of the Paresis Mountains from the terrace. During my first exploration, it was immediately clear to me that I would definitely be able to fulfill my dream of shooting a beautiful oryx here.

The next morning, we set off early, right after a fresh coffee and rusks. We saw many dik-diks, duikers, and steenboks, as well as baboons, oryx, kudu, impala, and warthogs.

The farm has densely vegetated areas, as well as several large cattle pastures, as well as both artificial and natural waterholes where the game likes to hang out. We had the opportunity to both stalk and hunt from hides, which are ideal for pairs.
We had plenty of views on every outing, and Peter accommodated all my requests; even spontaneous changes were always handled with composure and his professionalism and many years of experience. During the four days, I learned a lot about stalking, the farm’s operations, the vegetation, and even the game in Namibia.

The processing of the game and preparation of the trophies was quick and clean, and—as was important to me—everything was used. The food throughout the days was always fresh, delicious, and plentiful, and the atmosphere was always relaxed and welcoming, like being with good friends.
We are happy and grateful to have met Iris and Peter and will never forget the wonderful days on the farm and will definitely come back soon.

Christian, April 2022

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Kienitz family. We are incredibly happy and always look forward to having them plan and organize our trips to Namibia. Their work is first-class and highly recommended.

We ourselves are country folk and always enjoy our time in Namibia, as there’s no better place to unwind and relax than here. Namibia is always worth a trip! See you next time! The next trip for May 2023 is already being planned!

We are also passionate hunters who use part of our trip to hunt in Namibia. With his decades of experience in Namibia, the hunting guide from PH Peter Kienitz is outstanding. The Kienitz family has deep roots in this country and is therefore the perfect contact for many questions. This is where their expertise shines: They always have an answer, whether it’s about history, the country, or the flora and fauna.

Tim and Son

Kills: Kudu, Oryx, Wild Boar, Wild Boar, Oryx, Ibex. Tim also wanted to hunt in Africa. He had imagined a small warthog. I (his wife) was prepared for a few relaxing days and was already considering whether I should take the kids to see some of the nearby

attractions, while I suspected Tim was in endless ambushes.
Far from it!
Every stand, every stalk resulted in a kill, and it became a running joke, almost always a gold medal trophy. A fat kudu bull on the first evening, followed by an oryx the next morning. By the second evening, Tim was more than satisfied. Then you, Peter, came along with the absolute bomb.

The children were allowed to sit along!
The practice shot at the shooting range was a hit, thanks to some air rifle practice sessions in our backyard. The father went up to a tree stand with his daughters, while you took our son under your wing.
Charlotte was the first to be successful, shooting a rogue. As our sensitive animal lover Viktoria then decided against a kill – which was greatly appreciated by everyone – Tim had another go at it. It was, unbelievably, a big wild boar. You were surrounded by big oryx bulls for a long time and things didn’t look good for Friedrich at first. But then you laid the foundation for a young man’s passion for hunting.

A strong oryx bull had caught himself in a wire noose that had been set up by poachers and was tied around his neck. A kill was necessary. With your calm and level-headedness in the background, Friedrich actually brought him down with three clean shots and you gave our son the most wonderful holiday experience of his life.
The strong ibex that Tim shot the next morning was the icing on the cake.

Reflections on Hunting & Time

“You have the clock, we have the time.”
Once a proud motto of Namibian hunting, this saying is losing its truth. Today, time is fleeting. The luxury of long expeditions has become rare.
Where once hunters spent 4–12 weeks trekking through the wilderness, today’s hunts are often squeezed into a few days.

We invite you to reflect on this with us:

Meet Your PH

Peter Kienitz has lived in Namibia since the 1980s.
A forester’s son, Peter’s love of nature began with subsistence hunting and evolved into a professional career driven by ethics, skill, and passion.
“Everything in its own time — no rushing, no panic.”
Peter lives by this rule and shares it with every guest.
As a seasoned guide, he also leads tours throughout Southern Africa, picking up guests from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Victoria Falls, or Windhoek.
He’s known affectionately as “Our Peter, the Rock” for his wisdom, calm presence, and unmatched knowledge of history, nature, politics — all served with a sharp sense of humor.
