A passionate family business, ready to offer complete service of pick up transfers, guided trips from small to big tour groups; for the self-driving we have VW Tiguan and Microbus or the 4×4 vehicles as well as camping equipment ready to book for you.
Ready to go the extra mile, founded on values of honesty, professionalism and respect for nature and for the people of Namibia, no matter of any tribe or nation.
We take the time to do things right. Sometimes a tour plan just has to be re-shaped or turned around, to make it match your tourplan and availabilities.

Furthermore, our strength is to try out everything that is possible and to make it feasible and to realize each of your individual travel wishes and routes – depending on availability. It may also be possible to combine a pre-safari with a fly-in stay to Sossusvlei/Wolwedans Nature Reserve, Victoria Falls or the Okavango Delta. Mostly booked tours before Corona were self-drive tours to the Caprivi Strip, handover/return of the vehicle in Kasane and your onward journey then continues with a shuttle to neighboring Zambia, Zimbabwe or Botswana to a luxury lodge for the last days of your trip; return flight from there via Johannesburg. This saves you the long return journey from the Caprivi Strip.

Generations Before Us

Forstmeister Dr. Dr. e. h. Max Kienitz - A Milestone in the History of German Forest Stewardship

Max Kienitz was born on November 4, 1849, in Pätzig near Schönfließ/Neumark and passed away on June 5, 1931, in Bad Freienwalde. Growing up in the countryside, he was first taught by a private tutor before attending a secondary school in Berlin from 1863 to 1869. Even at this young age, his career aspirations were already clear. In 1869, he began a practical apprenticeship in Frankfurt/Oder, followed by voluntary service in the Guard Fusilier Regiment in Berlin, where he attained the rank of Oberleutnant and participated in the campaign in France from 1869 to 1870. In 1871, he worked under a head forester, further solidifying his commitment to forestry.

Between 1872 and 1874, he studied at the Royal Forest Academy in Hann. Münden and passed his first forestry exam. From 1874 to 1877, he prepared for the state exam, during which he also published his first scientific research. He passed the state exam and went on to serve as an assistant at the botanical institute of the forestry academy in Hann. Münden from 1877 to 1879. In 1878, he received his doctorate (Dr. phil.).

In 1879, Max Kienitz was appointed to Eberswalde as a representative for an ill professor, engaging in teaching activity. By 1882, he was appointed head forest ranger and married Anna, née Kienitz. Together, they had three sons, including twin grandsons, Helmut and Gustav-Adolf, born on January 30, 1922. That same year, he applied for the position in Chorin.

From 1888 to 1921, he served as the manager of the teaching district in Chorin and as a teacher at the Eberswalde Forestry Academy. After 33 years of dedicated service, he delivered his farewell lecture on March 4, 1921, in front of the assembled faculty and students.

Following his retirement, he relocated to Bad Freienwalde, where he continued to take on responsibilities, such as leading the institution for German wood research. Upon his death, he was buried in the family grave at the monastery cemetery in Chorin, amid great public sympathy.

Max Kienitz’s name remains a milestone in the history of the care of the German forest.

His character traits included: precise fulfillment of duty, objectivity, strictness tempered by fairness, constant control of his instructions, a balanced disposition, optimal time management, and an enormously resilient work ethic.

The topics of his lectures included forest cultivation, forest protection, hunting knowledge, and agriculture for foresters. He conducted numerous forestry excursions with students and supervised more than 170 trainees and interested forestry professionals. As a practitioner, he contributed significantly to the transformation of pine forests on better soils into oak stands.

We all have learned to be patient listeners to the sounds and voices of the animals and birds.

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.”
